What do you believe about the rapture? Do you believe that it is something that is going to happen someday? Do you believe that it pertains to you? Do you honestly believe that one day you are going to be picked up by God and brought into a gathering of other believers from around the world to meet God, Jesus, and His angels in the sky?
Did you know that the word rapture is not in the bible? But did you also know that the concept of the rapture IS found in the bible? The greek word for rapture is harpazo and it simply means a quick snatching away. And if you’ve read your bible, you’ll quickly recognize that the concept of a quick snatching away IS quite biblical. You’ll remember that Enoch was quickly taken to Heaven without dying. So, at that moment, his body must have been changed from a temporary, dying body into an eternal, immortal, imperishable body…right? Then there was Elijah. He also was snatched away from this world into His eternal home without dying. Therefore, he would also have been given a new body that can’t die, get sick, or grow old.
Now, in the New Testament, after He rose from the dead, we see Jesus moving around from place to place by a quick snatching away. During this time, Jesus was in his new, eternal, immortal body. He simply appears and disappears as His mode of transportation. Then, at the very end of His time on earth, He was “raptured” (taken away) from His disciples into the clouds.
Not long after that, in Acts 8, Phillip was snatched away from a ditch where he had just baptized the Ethiopian eunuch but he was placed back on earth in a different location but he was still in his dying, perishable body.
Paul was also snatched out of this world and brought to Heaven to see amazing things but when he returned from Heaven he was still in a perishable body that was capable of dying.
The apostle John had a very similar experience where he was “raptured” to Heaven to see all the things that have since become the book of Revelation. And John was also deposited back on the earth in a body that could die.
The Bible also clearly states that one day all of the followers of Jesus Christ alive on the earth will be “raptured.” It also says that every single one of His followers will be changed into their immortal, imperishable, undying bodies at that moment. So, when is that moment?
The question isn’t whether or not the rapture will happen. It WILL happen! The real question is WHEN will the rapture happen? And what if it doesn’t happen when you expect it?
God is not confused about when it will happen, and the Bible is crystal clear on when it will happen. It is just people who are confused.
